The Week That Had Us in 2 Countries, 4 Provinces and 7 Cities

Customised Stands Operations
Every now and then, a moment comes along that makes you stop and reflect on what your team is truly capable of. For ExpoGuys, that moment came when we realised that, over the course of just one week in May, we were delivering projects in 2 countries, 4 provinces, and 7 cities, a milestone that says a lot about the scale and resilience of our Customised Stands operations.
From South Africa to Tanzania: Customised Stands Getting the Job Done
One of the most demanding projects took us to Tanzania, where we delivered the German Pavilion at the E-Learning Conference. The challenges were immediate and unusual. When our team arrived three days before the show was due to open, the venue was far from ready. There was no flooring laid, no marked-out areas, and no power supply.
But in typical ExpoGuys fashion, the team got to work. We marked out the floor layout and connected power for tools and temporary lighting to allow work to continue overnight. Despite delays caused by port congestion and customs clearance, which meant the containers only arrived two days before opening, the crew pushed through. A government permit was even required to move goods during daylight hours.
As soon as the container doors opened, work began, and didn’t stop until 2am. The team was back on-site at 7am and continued working non-stop through the next day and night to deliver a fully functional, high-standard pavilion. The result? A happy client and a strong reminder of what a focused, skilled team can achieve under pressure.
Back Home in South Africa
While one team handled the Tanzania build, our crews were just as busy across South Africa.
Gauteng: Midrand & Sandton
In Midrand, it was the final build day for AATF and Universal Measurement, which included infrastructure setup and two customised stands. Four days later, the same crew was back for the breakdown.
Over in Sandton, our team kicked off build-up for the Trialogue Business in Society event at The Galleria. This included infrastructure, registration setups, and branded stands with full fabric back wall prints and fascia signage.
Free State: Nampo, Bothaville
In Bothaville, setup was underway for seven design stands and supporting infrastructure across two halls at Nampo, one of the most logistically demanding events of the year. With the venue located far from Johannesburg and tight build schedules, timing and transport had to be spot on. The job included outside stands, two of which incorporated containers and raised decks.
KwaZulu-Natal: Africa Travel Indaba, Durban
In Durban, our team delivered three pavilions and three design stands across both the ICC and the DEC for Africa’s Travel Indaba — despite late contractor appointments and compressed timelines. The workload was intense, but everything was delivered on time and to spec.
Mpumalanga: Mbombela
In Mbombela, we were proud to support the Department of Science and Technology at the G20-hosted event at the University of Mpumalanga. Our team supplied custom delegate desks, executive chairs, and a full G20 exhibition forecourt installation.
Western Cape: Cape Town
In Cape Town, ExpoGuys delivered several custom stands and full infrastructure for a client, along with the German Pavilion at Enlit Africa, which went on to win the show’s Best Pavilion award.
What This Week Taught Us
This week wasn’t just about numbers. It was about teamwork, adaptability, and getting the job done — no matter what. Whether it was lighting up a dark marquee in Tanzania or navigating last-minute pressure at Indaba, the entire ExpoGuys team stepped up.
It’s weeks like these that show just how much ground we can cover when we work together – quite literally.
