ExpoGuys Sustainability – Innovations in Design and Graphics – Part 5

Spearheading the sustainability movement in the design and graphics department is Nicholas de Klerk, whose passion for eco-friendly practices extends beyond the workplace. His team employs several strategies to reduce waste and energy consumption:

  • Eco-Friendly Printing: The use of eco-solvent inks and low power consuming fabric printers minimizes harmful emissions and waste.
  • Reusable Media: High-quality fabric banners and other printed media are repurposed for multiple uses, eg; bags and covers.
  • Digital Design: Advanced design software reduces paper usage, while designs prioritize existing factory materials to limit new production.
  • We design taking into consideration board and material sizes which minimises wastage and maximises usage of the material.
  • Using products and materials in ways apart from their conventional use i.e. pallet planks, plastic bottles and crates.

De Klerk’s creativity also extends to repurposing materials, turning old media into furniture coverings or signage, further demonstrating the department’s commitment to sustainability.
